The Kiggins Theatre was the vision of John P. Kiggins, a prominent Vancouver mayor and businessman. Designed by architect Day Walter Hilborn in the Art Deco style, the theater opened its doors on April 24, 1936, with the film "She Married Her Boss," starring Claudette Colbert and Melvyn Douglas. The building's distinctive curved façade and original neon signage have made it an iconic presence on Main Street. 

Throughout its history, the Kiggins Theatre has undergone various renovations and management changes. Notably, in 2012, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places, recognizing its cultural and architectural significance.

Today, the Kiggins Theatre continues to serve as a hub for film enthusiasts and the local community.
